Further south, the location along Woodlands Avenue 2 is the last MRT station that leaves Woodlands HDB Town. There are many good reasons to select this location although it is located rather close to Woodlands Interchange Station from our previous post. First of all, it is adjacent to the only sport school in Singapore and also at its doorstep, the new Innova Junior College. Which better place to construct a MRT Station? These facilities are major traffic generators and would require convenient public access at all levels.
Also, the same vicinity includes a number of condominiums developments, Rosewood and Casablanca. These private housing developments may see some appreciations in values with the Thomson line, MRT Station close by. However, like most private estates, their accesses are from inner roads (Rosewood Drive from Avenue 1), away from Woodlands Avenue 2 where the new Station is. Without direct access, the significance of having a MRT Station nearby may not be there.

Many may argue about the significance of a ‘MRT location’ for private estates. Well, let face it, with the rising petrol prices, lower car ownerships and increasing demand from foreign tenancies, private middle income housing estates are comparatively on par with HDB estates in terms of location choices.
However, having written that, this is still just a crystal ball predication. I believe at the conceptualization stage, even town planners are unsure of the obstacles along the way. So at the meantime, let do the right thing and ‘tikam’ on the locations of Thomson line MRT Stations like a true Singaporeans?
